Let the journey begin…

Monte Brè

Monte Brè is the mountain that rises to the east of Lugano, famous for its spectacular views of Lake Lugano and the surrounding Alps. At an altitude of 925 metres, it is considered one of the most beautiful vantage points in southern Switzerland, where nature, authentic villages and breathtaking views combine to create an unforgettable experience.

An accessible peak

Reaching the top of Monte Brè is easy and enjoyable. The funicular railway departs directly from Cassarate and climbs to just a few minutes from the viewpoint, making the experience suitable for everyone, from families to couples looking for a special moment.

For those who love walking, a network of well-marked trails allows you to explore the woods, meadows and most evocative views. Along the way, you will also encounter small traditional villages, such as Brè Villaggio, with its stone houses, artisan shops and glimpses of the lake that tell the alpine history of the place.

Views and activities

From the Monte Brè viewpoint, the panorama opens up onto a natural canvas: Lake Lugano, framed by mountains and hills, changes colour and atmosphere depending on the light of day. On clear days, you can see the most distant peaks, while at sunrise and sunset, the lake becomes a breathtaking mirror of gold and pink.

In addition to the view, Monte Brè offers a variety of activities: hikes of varying levels of difficulty, leisurely walks, picnic areas, e-bike rentals and observation points perfect for photography. Even those who love to relax will find their place here: sitting on a bench and gazing at the horizon is a rejuvenating experience.
